Running goals

Run more than 5,000m in less than 21 minutes.

Methodology

1 mi = 1,609.344 m

13:22 = (13 * 60) + 22 = 802 s

2 mi = 2 mi * 1,609.344 m / mi = 3,218.688 m

2 mi : 13:22

3,218.688 m : 802 s

1,500 m : ROUNDDOWN(802 s / 3218.688 m * 1500 m, 0) = 373 s = 06:13

5,000 m : ROUNDDOWN(802 s / 3218.688 m * 5000 m, 0) = 1,245 s = 20:45

The AFT (Army Fitness Test) is a physical fitness examination for the United States Army.

One of the components of the AFT is the Two-Mile Run.

Wikipedia: World Athletics is the international governing body for the sport of athletics.

Convert two miles to metres.

Then, intrapolate two miles down to the nearest event covered by World Athletics.

Then, determine the time taken, so that the speed is identical or greater to the strictest criterion in the AFT scoring table.

1 mile = 1,609.344 m

2 miles = 3,218.688 m

1,500 m < 2 miles = 3,218.688 m < 5,000 m

13:22 = (13 * 60) + 22 = 802 s

3,218.688 m : 802 s

1,500 m : 802 * 1500 / 3218.688 s

ROUNDDOWN(802 * 1500 / 3218.688, 0) = 373

1,500 m : 373 s = 6 minutes 13 seconds
